MILWAUKEE — For the fourth consecutive time, and fifth overall, Alex Palou has won the IndyCar Series Championship.
The driver of the No. 10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda came to the Milwaukee Mile knowing that he had to leave with a combined 71 points to safely secure the championship title. Despite an engine change grid penalty headed his way for race one, the Spaniard showed up in qualifying, securing the NTT Pole Position award for the race two.
After a tough weekend in D.C. for the Freedom 250, where there had been a possibility of clinching the championship even earlier but was thwarted due to small mistakes made by both team and driver, the No. 10 crew felt a lot of pressure to procure a better result for the doubleheader.
In the end, they were unable to come home with a race win, finishing in 10th place in the first race and fifth in the second, but were able to leave as five-time champions.
Now, the team heads to the final stop of the 2026 IndyCar season calendar, the Monterey Grand Prix at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
As he looks to have a record eight-win season, this five-time champ will head to Monterey knowing that he has a dominant past at the track, having won in 2023, 24’, and 25’.
