IndyCar Champ Alex Palou Unveils the 110th Indianapolis 500 Ticket
INDIANAPOLIS — Winner of the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 and four-time NTT IndyCar Series Champion, Alex Palou, unveiled the ticket for the 110th running of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” last night at K1 Speed in Fishers.
The driver of the No. 10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda will be featured on the face of the ticket for a tradition spanning 78 years. Mauri Rose was the first to appear on the ticket back in 1948 following his win the year prior, and the honor of being featured has been in place ever since.
With DHL as a sponsor, Palou delivered the ticket unveiling in dramatic fashion with help from IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles. The jumbo-sized version of the ticket was carried in an equally jumbo-sized DHL envelope, and Boles and Palou opened the package and set what will be this year’s ticket on the stand.

The ticket itself features a photo, taken by IMS photographer Chris Owens, of Palou standing on top of his car, celebrating his first 500 victory. It captures the insurmountable joy Palou felt in that moment.
“I always had to sign the ticket as a driver, and I always wanted to be on the ticket,” Palou said. “It’s amazing. I love it. It was probably the coolest day of my life, and I cannot wait to see it on a small scale all around IMS. It’s going to look good.”
Designed by IMS Senior Art Director Mandy Walsh, the image of Palou is superimposed over a stars and stripes background that celebrates our nation, as the event is held annually on Memorial Day Weekend. The actual ticket, unlike its much larger brother that was unveiled last night, will also feature red foiling across it, including a red foil copy of Palou’s signature.
On May 24th, Palou will defend his victory and aim to be the first to cross the yard of bricks, but until then, the season will kick off this weekend, March 1st, for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
